Originally I put these tyres on my 4wd as a second choice as my desired mud tyres were out of stock and I couldn't wait any longer. I've gotta say, I have been thoroughly impressed by the X-MT's. Having clocked up over 140K kms on both Pro Comp XMT and Maxxis Bighorn 762, I have some experience with mud tyres. The Achilles is absolutely as capable off-road as both the Pro Comp and the Maxxis and the on-road noise is on-par. Like any mud tyre, they do tend to hum at highway speeds, but that's a given with aggressive tyres like this. I have done 40,000 kms on mine and I still have over half the tread left (rotating 5 tyres through) and the tread wear has been uniform accross the tread face. I'm yet to puncture one either (touch wood). Having done several trips up the east coast of Aus from Fraser Island to the Vic High Country, these tyres have seen it all. With the aggressive design and 3 ply sidewalls, I don't actually think there is a better mud tyre out there for this kind of money.
