Kumho

Founding The Kumho Business Group was founded in 1946 by Mr. In-Chun Park as a small transportation company with two Ford Taxicabs as its only assets. Demand was high and the business grew rapidly, only to be devastated by the Korean War in 1950 to 1953. After the war Mr. Park started over and built what is today Korea's largest intercity bus transportation company, Kwang Ju Highway Lines, and its largest and finest tyre manufacturer, Kumho Tyres.

Diversification over the years, the Kumho Group diversified into many fields, some of which would prove internationally competitive such as Kumho Tyre and Asiana Airlines Inc.

Kumho Tyre Company Limited Since the establishment of Kumho and Company Incorporated, in September 1960. Kumho has contributed greatly to the enhancement of the Korean and the world tyre industry. Despite our short history, Kumho has succeeded in receiving international recognition with our E1 mark of approval by the European Economic Committee, and we have also succeeded in developing 45, 40, 35 and 30 series ZR level tyres for racing and high performance vehicles and, for the first time, tyres for commercial airlines. As a result, in 1992, Kumho entered the ranks of the world's top ten tyre manufacturers.

Kumho has succeeded in the development of superior tyres for all vehicles including high performance vehicles, passenger vehicles, sports utility vehicles, recreational vehicles, light trucks, heavy truck and buses, industrial vehicles, agricultural vehicles, mining vehicles, Construction vehicles and aircraft.

Kumho Industrial Company Limited, produces over 36,000,000 tyres annually in our two manufacturing factories, the Kwang Ju factory (built 1974) and the Koksung factory (built 1989). With our QS9000, ISO9001, ISO9002, Boeing D1-9000 BQS, BS7750 and ISO14001 certification, both our factories can ensure and guarantee quality control, plus with our massive research and development programme comprising of over 600 research personnel and over 300 testing machines at proving grounds in South Korea, Japan, Europe and South America, Kumho can provide and lead the world with the latest in tyre technology, safety and performance.

In Australia Kumho markets an extensive range of tyres for cars, 4WD’s, light commercials, trucks and buses.
